If you searched for the e-Daakhil to e-Jagriti change, here is the short version. The e-Jagriti portal launched on 1 January 2025 and succeeds e-Daakhil. New consumer complaints are filed on the e-Jagriti portal at e-jagriti.gov.in, not on the old e-Daakhil site.

Plenty of pages online still tell you to visit edaakhil.nic.in and click Register. That advice is out of date. This post explains what changed, what it means for a complaint you are about to file, and what to do if you already filed on the old system.

What e-Jagriti replaced

e-Daakhil was launched by the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in September 2020 so that consumers could file complaints online under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. The e-Jagriti portal is its successor. It also brings together the older systems the Commissions used: OCMS, CONFONET and the NCDRC case management system. The result is one portal for the District, State and National Commissions.

What is different for you as a complainant

The portal handles the whole journey online: filing, uploading documents, paying the fee, receiving notifications and attending hearings by video. You do not need to visit the Commission to file.

The practical effects are simple:

  • One place to file. District, State and National Commission complaints all go through the same portal.
  • Fees are paid online. Complaints with a value up to ₹5 lakh carry no fee. Above that the fee depends on the amount paid. Our guide to consumer court fees by claim value has the full table.
  • Documents are uploaded. You prepare a set of PDFs and attach your evidence.
  • Updates reach you digitally. Notices and hearing information come through the portal.

If you filed on e-Daakhil earlier

You do not need to file again. Look your case up on the e-Jagriti portal using the case number, and keep your old acknowledgement safe. If you cannot find it, contact the Commission where it was filed and ask how to access it. Do not file a duplicate complaint, because two complaints for the same dispute can cause problems later.

How to file a new complaint now

The steps in outline are these.

  1. Work out which Commission to approach. It depends on the amount you paid. District covers up to ₹50 lakh, State covers above ₹50 lakh up to ₹2 crore, and National covers above ₹2 crore. See which consumer commission to approach.
  2. Check you are within the two year limit under Section 69. If you are close, read about the consumer complaint time limit.
  3. Send the company a written complaint and a legal notice first. It is not a legal requirement to file, but commissions notice when you tried to settle.
  4. Register on the e-Jagriti portal with your mobile number.
  5. Enter the case details, your details and the opposite party details.
  6. Upload your documents, pay the fee if one applies, and submit.

Preparing the documents is the slow part. Jagrik AI helps you with that: you describe what happened in a chat, and it prepares the complaint documents. Our Chrome and Firefox extension can then fill the portal form for you, and you always press the final submit yourself. See e-Jagriti auto fill for how it works.

Beware of look-alike sites and agents

The government portal is e-jagriti.gov.in. Filing fees are paid on the portal. Nobody needs to be paid to unlock a filing, and you should be careful of any site or agent that asks for money before you have even registered.

In short, the e-Daakhil to e-Jagriti switch means one portal for all three tiers of Commission, with filing online from start to finish.
